DHSC seeks financial collaborators for newborn SMA and SCID screening evaluation.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is seeking expressions of interest from voluntary, community, social enterprise (VCSE) and private sector organisations to collaborate financially on extending the In Service Evaluation (ISE) for newborn Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) screening in England, which will also include evaluating screening for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). The collaboration requires financial contributions for setting up and running an additional 6 newborn screening centres over two years, with the first centre operational by Q3 2027. This is not a public procurement but a collaboration/donation opportunity. Interested parties must submit a questionnaire by 7th August 2025. DHSC will evaluate responses based on financial position, track record, and other criteria.
