DHSC seeks financial collaborators for newborn SMA and SCID screening evaluation.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is seeking expressions of interest from voluntary, community, social enterprise (VCSE) and private sector organisations to collaborate financially on extending an existing In Service Evaluation (ISE) for newborn Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) screening in England, which will also include evaluating screening for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). The collaboration requires financial contributions for setting up and running 6 additional newborn screening centres over two years, with the first centre expected operational by Q3 2027. Interested parties must complete a questionnaire by 7 August 2025. DHSC will evaluate responses using a scoring system and may conduct due diligence. This is not a public procurement but a collaboration/donation opportunity.
