The frame must be capable of performing compression tests on large-scale structural components and materials, with a capacity of 500 kips (2,224 kN). Key requirements include a rigid load frame, hydraulic actuator, and data acquisition system. The equipment is intended for research and testing purposes at NIST's Gaithersburg, MD facility.
