EECA seeks heavy vehicle charging demos with demand flexibility.
The Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA) of New Zealand is seeking applications for demonstration projects to test heavy vehicle charging infrastructure with integrated demand flexibility. The procurement covers co-funding for charge point operators and freight companies to install heavy vehicle charging hubs, including smart charging, battery energy storage, and demand flexibility technologies. Applicants can apply for up to $5 million of EECA co-funding (up to 50% of eligible costs) for a minimum 1 MW charging hub, with the remainder co-funded by the project owner. Projects must be for on-road vehicle hubs at shared urban facilities or dedicated journey charging. A supplier briefing is scheduled for April 9, 2026.
