DHSC seeks support for MedTech reuse programme with pilots and research.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is commissioning an external provider to deliver research, analytical, implementation and programme roll-out support for the Design for Life National Reduce and Reuse Campaign Programme, which aims to transition away from avoidable single-use MedTech products by 2045. The contract includes supporting soft launch pilots for priority reusable products (tourniquets, blood pressure cuffs, theatre caps, sharps bins) and investigating future product areas (scissors, medical textiles, A&E suture kits). Key deliverables include recruiting 15-20 NHS Trusts, providing sustainability and circular economy support, conducting quality and health economic assessments, behavioral insight work, and developing adoption metrics and guidance. DHSE seeks suppliers with multidisciplinary expertise in NHS engagement, sustainability, MedTech adoption, quality improvement, health economics, and IPC. The contract value is £463,520 (excl. VAT) with an additional scope of up to £250,000.
