ELWA awards £373M waste transfer and recycling contract.
East London Waste Authority (ELWA) has awarded a contract for waste transfer, operation of waste transfer stations and reuse and recycling centres, and related services. The contract covers receipt, handling, bulking, and haulage of contract waste; operation of four RRCs and two WTSs; a Circular Economy Hub for reuse; onward haulage to treatment sites; management of bring bank sites; waste education; and shredding of POPs waste. The estimated value is £373 million over an initial 10-year 3-month term with a possible 5-year extension. Bidders should note the contract is for a large-scale, long-term waste management operation serving multiple councils.
