The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) requires services for holding, raising, and genetically managed breeding of captive Atlantic Whitefish, including wild-caught young-of-year. The work involves two objectives: (a) holding and rearing for breeding and release of progeny, and (b) genetically managed breeding to preserve genetic diversity for range expansion and research. Minimum requirements include a facility within 100-150 km of the collection site in Nova Scotia with temperature-controlled seawater/freshwater, fail-safe systems, and 7-day staff availability. Offerors must have at least 10 years of aquatic systems experience, 2 years in aquatic research, experience with endangered species, and a Bachelor's degree in aquatic sciences or aquaculture. Certification in Recirculating Aquatic Systems (RAS) or 10 years RAS experience, and a Good Animal Practice Certificate from CCAC are required.
