National Highways is seeking a sole supplier to deliver a statutory vehicle removal service across England's Strategic Road Network (SRN), covering over 7,200 km of motorways and major A roads. The contract is for up to 10 years and requires 24/7/365 service including bank holidays. The supplier must establish and manage a national fleet of vehicle recovery operatives (VROs) to remove accident-damaged, broken-down, and abandoned vehicles, including abnormal loads over 44 tonnes. Additional services include debt recovery management, removal of shed loads, pre-positioning for events, scheme recovery for roadworks, and IT provision. The contract is governed by statutory charges set by the Home Office under the 2023 Regulations.
