Phase 3 landfill extension with earthworks, lining, and drainage.
Shetland Islands Council seeks a contractor for Phase 3 extension of Gremista Landfill in Lerwick. The works include cut and fill earthworks, new haul roads, surface water drainage (ditches, pipework, manholes, headwalls), installation of a 500mm bentonite-enriched soil layer, 2mm HDPE welded geomembrane basal liner, protection geotextile, leachate collection pipework, and 500mm aggregate drainage layer. Capping of the existing Phase 2 landfill area with 1mm LLDPE geomembrane and restoration soils is also required. The project involves significant civil engineering and landfill lining expertise.
