Somerset Council is procuring a therapeutic unit for older people with mental health needs (OPMH+) who have dementia and complex behaviors that cannot be managed in standard health and social care settings. The service must be person-centered, adaptive, and flexible, aiming to optimize health and wellbeing in later life. Staff must be trained in the Newcastle Model to reduce 1-1 support hours and improve wellbeing. The contract covers care and support for individuals with dementia presenting complexity beyond Somerset's broader offer.
